EVENT // DUTCH DESIGN WEEK

Remember I told you I went to the Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven? Well, here's my report. During Dutch Design Week, more than 1,500 designers display their work ranging from industrial design, spatial design, and graphic design to textiles, sustainable design and design management & trends. Design in all its disciplines and aspects. The participants include established bureaus, high-profile designers, talented newcomers, and recently graduated designers, one of the reasons why Dutch Design Week is the perfect meeting place for designers, companies, and public.

Of course I'm interested in all facets of design, but fashion appeals the most to me. My favorite is the first photo, a collection from Marjolein Stormezand, called 'This is a copy.' With this collection she wants to show her reaction to the large problem of copying in the fashion industry. She first went looking for the icons, fashion designers who have inspired her during her training. Then she made a selection of recognizable 'iconic' garments. But she didn't used them as inspiration, she copied them. She did this as controversial as possible, so that the garments can be traced and brought to discussion.

'A copied collection.
Between black and white, everything seems the same.
But again not at all.'
